Course Description

The Supervisor’s Academy has been offered by the Government Training Agency since 1985.  The Academy is for supervisors at every level, from newly promoted or aspiring supervisors to upper management. The sessions are designed specifically for employees in local government and for the difficult and complex environment in which these employees work.

The Academy is five days in duration.  Although some theory is presented, the primary emphasis is on understanding and skill development.  The schedule provides time for presentation of material and an opportunity for practice during class.  Because of the separation between training days, participants can apply their learning in the workplace immediately, then deal with on-going situations, successes and failures, when they return to the Academy.
