Intermediate Course

This 40-hr course is designed to offer experienced instructors new and enhanced understandings related to the active learner-focused classroom, facilitation skills, presentation skills, critical thinking skills, outcome-based learning, problem-based learning and the assessment of learning. Students attending this course will demonstrate the ability to identify a training need and develop or redesign an 8-hr course in response that is focused on student retention and skill transference.

This course is open to all local government personnel looking to increase their instructor skills, both in front of an audience and in the development of training materials.

Course Prerequisites:

The following prerequisite has been established as a minimum baseline for students attending this course:

1. Successful completion of the Basic Instructor Level, whether that be the Basic Instructor Course, the Academy Instructor Certification Course (AICC), ICI Instructor (ICII) or an equivalency

Course Fee Information: 

Reimbursement Plan IV: There is no tuition for POST reimbursable agencies. Travel reimbursement is reimbursable via Training Reimbursement Request (TRR).

Non-Reimbursable agencies: Tuition is $253.67. There is no reimbursement for travel and per diem.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received more than ten (10) business days prior to the start of the class will not be charged. If payment has already been made, it will be refunded. Cancellations received ten (10) or less business days before the start of the class will be charged at full price. This late cancellation charge compensates GTA for the non-refundable costs incurred prior to the start date of the course.

No Shows: A No Show on the day of the class will result in a full charge for the class.
