Officer Involved Domestic Violence: What Internal Affairs, Criminal Investigators and Law Enforcement Administration Need to Know
Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive overview into the complexities and challenges found in investigating, both criminally and administratively, a peace officer who is alleged to have committed domestic violence. The course is designed specifically for criminal investigators, internal affairs personnel, and command and executive level staff. Participants will work through the unique and challenging dynamics involved in officer involved domestic violence cases to develop strategies for overcoming potential barriers in such cases. Participants will also review current legal changes and how those laws impact the criminal and administrative investigations, department policy and ultimately the safety of the victim and officer suspect.
